Montengero dismisses any government solution with the PS or the arrival

The president of the PSD departed this Monday any government solution with the PS or the arrival. Luís Montenegro said he will fight for a majority and reiterated that he will only be prime minister if he won.

The social democratic leader, along with other candidates, delivered this Monday to the Aveiro Court, the list of the AD-PSD/CDS coalition by the electoral circle of this district to the early legislative elections of 18 May.

The head of AD by Aveiro reiterated the beacons he had established in 2024, stating that he will only resume Prime Minister’s duties if he won the elections, and adding that he will fight to have the majority of the Portuguese votes, but not to mention an absolute majority.

“It’s a point of honor of this candidacy,” said Montenegro, quoted by the agency Lusa.

« We want the legitimation of popular vote so we can execute our program, we want to have the majority of voters’ votes, we want no success, no scheme, on the back of the Portuguese, finding government solutions, we want to govern having more votes than others, » he added.

The president of the PSD thus dismissed any scenario of government solution with the PS, considering that this would not be good for the country, but admitting the possibility of sectoral understandings.

Montenegro also removed a possible understanding with the arrival with the arrival to form government, stating that it is a party that « has neither posture nor maturity to assume this responsibility. »

« I want the Portuguese to know the beacons in which we are founded to present ourselves to govern the country in the next four and a half years, these are, essentially, those we have seen realizing, which will now be naturally updated and presented in the coming days, » he concluded.
