Montenegro refuses interference with state contracts with companies linked to Spinumviva
The prime minister refused this Thursday any interference in the conclusion of contracts between the state and companies that worked with Spinumviva. Luís Montenegro pointed out that such contracts “never depended” on themselves.
« Absolutely, I do not admit to anyone even this insinuation, » replied the head of government when asked if he had any interference with contracts between the state and companies with which Spinumviva (a company founded by Luís Montenegro and recently passed to his children) worked.
Luís Montenegro spoke to journalists upon arrival at the official residence in Lisbon, where today the event “São Bento in Familia” takes place, with cultural moments open to the population.
On Wednesday, Expresso reported that the prime minister filed a new statement to the entity for transparency, referring more companies with which Spinumviva worked.
This Thursday, Correio da Manhã and CNN Portugal report that two of these companies, which already had relations with the state, got millions of euros already during the government led by Luís Montenegro.
« I have no idea, these services when they were provided (by Spinumviva) were very limited services, were two thousands of euros. The contracts these companies have with the state do not depend on me, they never depended on me, » he said, quoted by Lusa agency.
The prime minister indicated that he was the entity for transparency « who requested » this new information and said he fulfilled this request, although he thought that « he did not have to deliver those elements. »
About the ‘timing’ said the deadline « was that day » and was not fixed by itself.
“I am not strange, I fulfill my obligations, I do not agree that the law obliges the provision of those elements under the conditions in which they were requested, but I will not now enter this discussion, he said.
“Regardless of disagreeing, I did, and there is one thing I want to solemnly affirm the information that was advertised, it has no intervention on my part, it was not even public,” said Montenegro.
