Montenegro criticizes journalists insistence on questions about spinumviva

The president of the PSD refused, on Monday, to address the theme of alleged pre-election negotiations with the liberal initiative to not « distract the Portuguese with political gossip. »

Luís Montenegro is at the Fair of Espinho, where are also the caravans of PS, Pan, arrives and the former PPM coalition partner.

The prime minister answered some media questions, but criticized the fact that he continued to ask questions about the Spinumviva case, which precipitated the legislative elections.

Asked if he considered that « it was worth insisting on the stubbornness of keeping the family business and taking the country to elections, » Montenegro replied, « Do you have no more questions to ask me every day? RTP is very committed. » The PSD leader was later informed that it had been SIC to do the question.

« So it’s SIC, it’s done, but I saw here the RTP microphone that has been more insistent. But they want to ask again the same questions that were asking two months ago and three months ago? I am very quiet about it, just yesterday I was at SIC, until answering questions around it, » said Montegro, referring to his trip to Ricardo Araújo Pereira’s program.

« The essential thing is that the Portuguese and the Portuguese make a decision about their future, give conditions of governability and stability to a government that want to continue their work, » he said, stressing that « the rest are maneuvers to try to distract the Portuguese from a serene assessment. »

Faced with the statements of IL leader Rui Rocha, who said he was challenged by the PSD for a pre-election coalition he refused, Montenegro seemed to want to escape the matter.

« What I proposed was a coalition to the Portuguese to continue to believe this government and this is the one that matters now. Conversations between the parties I think there are and will always exist, but it is not my habit distracting the Portuguese and the Portuguese as political gossip, when what is at stake are strategic options for the country’s future, » he said.
