Money should attract healthcare personnel from the beach


The sun is shining, the ice cream melts and the beach is heron. At the same time, parts of health care have concerns with staffing, not least in terms of nurses. To overwhelm the warm season’s promises of recovery, several regions offer money to those who postpone leave.

– My colleagues need their vacation just like everyone else in Sweden. We have high part -time work and high sickness numbers, so the need for holidays is actually greater, says Sineva Ribeiro.

The trade union considers this type of compensation as symptoms of failed skills provision in Swedish healthcare. What employers should rather put the gun on, says Sineva Ribeiro, is both a better working environment and the conditions on the floor.

– It is about valuing the professional group so that you actually employ all year and preferably over the basic staffing. If you have a higher staffing year -round, you can handle the summer as well, says Sineva Ribeiro.

DN did two years ago A survey of the phenomenon. It showed that healthcare personnel across the country were offered any kind of compensation for screwing in the holiday plans. A check among employers in northern Sweden shows that the approach remains.

– We have the same levels as last year, Ulrika Sundqvist, regional director in Norrbotten.

Most critical is to succeed in keeping enough care places in the hospitals open.

– If there is a need in the business and you take a holiday week another part of the year, and not during the months of June, July, August, you get SEK 25,000, says Ulrika Sundqvist.

Personnel are also offered compensation for taking extra passes during holiday times. Healthcare that is deemed to be able to wait is scheduled for other parts of the year.

– We believe that at the total we have a slightly better staffing position than we had the same period last summer, says Ulrika Sundqvist.

Summer planning is still ongoing in the Norrbotten region. This is, among other things, Ulrika Sundqvist, about trying to capture people who come out of health education.

The region has generally hired more, she says, and has one Summer campaign for recruitment from other directions. Before the holidays, about 160 weeks are resolved in this way, according to Ulrika Sundqvist. There is already a staffing center within the region with more than 20 nurses, where it now also works about 20 nurses.

– Of course, they should also have their well -deserved vacation, but it makes a big difference that we have that resource, says Ulrika Sundqvist.

Only in the autumn there is a fact to the extent to which employees have sold summer holidays.

Such reimbursements are criticized by the union, how do you look at it?

– I have no other sight. We want more robust staffing all year if that is why we have recruited more. In recent years, we have reduced overtime outlets on the total. We are very aware that our employees will have their summer vacation, says Ulrika Sundqvist.

In Region Västernorrland may be employed In a number of occupational categories, SEK 25,000 receive for a moved holiday week, while some groups are offered half the sum. HR Director Lena Laaksonen says she mainly shares the union’s view.

– It is not desirable to have to move on vacation. The employees need their leave, she says.

Even in her region, the staffing situation is currently deemed to be slightly better than last year.

– We work partly to employ more, especially nurses, and partly with benefit packages, work environment, health factors and long -term sustainable working hours, says Lena Laaksonen.

Healthcare Lockbeten in holiday times

Region Norrbotten: SEK 25,000 per week moved. SEK 1,800 per extra pass on weekdays, and SEK 2,500 for an extra pass night, weekend or midsummer evening.

Region Västerbotten: 180 percent of hourly salary in addition to relocation granted vacation. 280 or 340 percent of hourly wages to cancel the holiday started. Extra passes are also replaced by percentage supplements.

Region Västernorrland: SEK 25,000 or SEK 12,500 per week moved, depending on occupational category. For extra pass equivalent to an extra hourly salary per hour worked.

The regions have guidelines that the remuneration should be used restrictively and only after regular solutions are exhausted.
