Momcilo Otasevic (35) is one of the most recognizable faces of the regional television scene. The talented actor from Montenegro won the audience with charm, dedication and convincing interpretations in series such as ‘Godparents’ and ‘In good and evil’ on Nova TV. The versatile and always ready for the challenges, successfully balances between different roles, and his career is growing.
– The godparents have been going on for several years and the audience has hooked up for them, they do not give up because they are interested in what will happen next. Similar is ‘in good and evil’. I suppose people simply like to watch the series. Honestly, I don’t have a luxury to sit two hours in front of the TV, but if there were no those audiences who watched, I wouldn’t work, so I’m grateful to them – Otasevic tells us and continues:
– It seems to me that the godparents take over KUD to break in my heart – so far it has been my favorite series. I often know how to joke and say: I celebrated my son’s birthday at the bowlers where we filmed some scenes at the very beginning of the series, and then we were shooting some new scenes a few seasons again – and he’s been four years later, so I hope we will shoot godparents at least until he’s going to school. At the same time, it is not a easy task to shoot two series, but it successfully swimming in that challenge.
– I was skeptical at the beginning. It happened to me the first day that I was filming both series and in the studio and at the location, with four different teams, four directors, different actors. Sometimes it can be challenging, but it is actually easier for me because the characters are so different that it is easier for me to make a distinction. I play one there, the other here. It’s challenging, it’s nice, it’s hard, but I chose it myself – Momcilo points out.
He approaches each new role in a specific way, depending on the format.
– Every medium requires a different preparation and I devote myself to it. Most often, I first try to find a ‘body’ of the character, what a costume, what a gait is, what kind of relationships he is … When I find it, everything gets easier – says the actor.
If he recognizes himself in the characters he embodies, we ask him.
– I never recognize myself. I embrace them, design, fantasize. Of course I use something from my own life and experiences because I still play, no one else can do it for me – Momcilo is clear.
Critics do not hit him, he uses them as a tool for progress.
– Criticism is an important and necessary part of the job. It must exist, if it is constructive then it is always to be accepted and applied something, and it can be bad, but something is learned from all that. I have a habit of asking people when they watch a movie, a series or a play: What was the worst thing for you, because I wonder what was the worst for them. What is good is I know – Otasevic points out.
Although he loves spontaneous moments, he is aware that most of the scenario should be held.
– We can jump in with some smaller improvisations or something we agree as soon as possible, because it all has to be repeated several times so that there are no improvisations of how people think, and on the other hand, I love when dozens, when dozens of problems, when the scene cracks completely, so it has to go again. I do not like that I am most often in concentration and rarely crack or let me crack, to underpage with laughter. It annoys me, I wish I could sometimes be a fool, and I really try to maintain concentration – admits the actor. The reconciliation of an intense schedule with a private life is not easy, but it succeeds.
– I’ve been balanced for years as I know best. I prefer to do 15 scenes than a couple of scenes because then I have the feeling that I really worked – says Otasevic.

– Children are in the first place at all times and I try to devote their free time to them and to use it in the highest quality way with a lot of adrenaline, fun, joy, happiness, love and pampering. The paternity completely changes you, especially if you get your baby before your thirties. You realize that you are no longer yourself in the first place, than someone more important. I hope that for that I will be a better man than I was before – Momcilo admits.
After filming, she loves the warm bath and rest on the couch.
– If it’s not, then these are fun parks with children or some adrenaline experiences. I love skiing, riding, fishing, but I rarely arrive. The Padel is a new hobby, and I always come back to the gym for the 88th time – he says.
He is particularly excited about the movie ‘Black Trumpet’ directors Bojan Stijovic and the writer Stefan Boskovic.
– We recorded last summer in Montenegro and I did my best. The movie was shot from hand, with a little light, of course because of the financial conditions, but I think we have done a great job and that we can soon expect a great Montenegrin drama thriller with crime elements, to call it that. Maybe the first time in my life that I was completely pleased with what I was able to squint. I can’t wait for the movie to go out, to see if it’s really so good as I think, ”he admits.
And where do you see in a few years?
– I never wanted anything like that or planned. Life leads me, acting drives me, I indulge, I’m a good passenger and try to accompany everything that happens in that acting path – concludes modestly.
