MOI with an appeal not to settle on false traffic fraud, to report to the police
The Ministry of Interior today urges citizens not to settle for false traffic fraud and such cases to report to the police immediately.
– In the past period, the Ministry of Interior, by the citizens, reported several crimes of « fraud », committed on older people. The perpetrators mislead the people by calling them by telephone and presenting them as officials, most often police officers and demanding funds to relieve criminal persons’ persecution of their children or grandchildren who reportedly made a car accident shortly before the death.
Cheaters contacted the victims mostly on a fixed phone. But there were cases where they were contacted and via a hidden number. In order to be more convincing, the MoI explained, a voice was hearing in the background.
« The Ministry of Interior informs the citizens that measures and activities are being taken to clear up the crimes reported so far and at the same time, we appeal to citizens not to settle for this type of fraud, and if contacted, to report to the police immediately, » the ministry said.
