Mobile urn for cirrhosis patients
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) addresses an urgent call to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), requesting increased monitoring and rapid intervention on the illegal way in which the mobile urn is used in Romania counties in the presidential elections of 2025.
Gold claims in a press release issued Agerpres that he has already received numerous worrying signals, which indicate attempts of electoral fraud through the mobile ballot, as well as other serious administrative abuses.
Reported issues:
-in Botoroaga commune, Teleorman county, in the villages Valea Cireş, Călugăru, Tărnava and Tunari, 243 applications for mobile ballot, including persons who are dead;
– in Ruginoasa commune, Neamţ county, there were 100 requests for the mobile ballot box, all as for « cirrhosis patients » – an unlikely coincidence;
– in Ghimpati commune, Giurgiu county, a large number of requests have been reported, and the inhabitants suspect that the mobile teams will go with already stamped bulletins, asking only the signature of the elderly;
– In Dolj County, Desa and Cetate, a very large number of requests for the mobile ballot box was reported. Also in Dolj, in some sections, the observers noticed bags with bulletins without seals, and at one of the sections, the president had 100 bulletins « in his pocket », without legal justification.
– In Voluntari (Ilfov), the gold delegates in the polling stations were able to sign the minutes in white, an illegal and dangerous act for the integrity of the electoral election
Similar situations are reported in other counties, with alarming figures:
– Gorj: 1,247 requests for the mobile ballot box;
– Vâlcea: 387 requests;
– Vaslui: 528 applications;
– Mehedinti: About 150 applications, with the mention that citizens have been informed that they can apply until today, at 11:00, which
raises suspicions related to the illegal prolongation of the terms;
– Galati: 827 registered requests.
From the information received from the territory, in certain counties the number of mobile urns is three times higher than in 2024.
We will come back with details on these figures during the day.
These practices question the correctness of the electoral process, especially in rural areas and in vulnerable communities, where administrative pressure and lack of supervision allow such abuses.
We ask the OSCE to treat these signals with maximum seriousness and to have observers in the mentioned areas. We consider that the integrity of the vote is an essential condition for the international recognition of the result of the elections.
Gold will continue to document and report any irregularity, both national and international institutions, to protect the fundamental right of each citizen to a free and correct vote.
