Preparation for emergencies – a priority area

According to Minister V. Kondratovich, preparation for emergencies will continue to be very relevant. In recent years, much attention has been paid to the installation of shelter, responsible services, as well as to inform residents.

« The changed geopolitical situation and the increased level of threats indicate that it is necessary to strengthen the state’s readiness to potential threats. The security environment in our region calls for focus on the improvement of the warning system and the enhancement of the population, » the Minister of the Interior said.

Technological progress in the field of communication and telecommunications promotes state institutions to alert residents to additional and modern tools. In the development of the population’s information and warning system, the LT72 mobile app will become such a tool.

« We have a clear and ambitious goal – the LT72 mark and the mobile app and website named, which is the main source of information about the preparation for emergencies, must become known to every resident of the country, » said Mindaugas Bajarūnas, Head of the Strategic Communication Division of the MoI Strategic Communication.

The Mobile Gadget Creation Services Agreement and its advertising campaign are implemented by the European Commission’s funded project funded by the European Commission.

This EC project aims to improve the readiness of Lithuanian society for emergencies and to promote the awareness of the population, to increase their sense of self -protection and responsibility in the field of civil protection.

After downloading the gadget to the mobile phone, it is planned to receive a warning message about the imminent danger. The functionality of the warning notice is intended to integrate into the multichannel information and alert system. The new and modern polygonal warning system (platform) is to allocate $ 5.5 million. euros. This system would warn residents about potential threats at the same time, centrally and all available information channels.
