Mitid is a decisive factor
Rasmus Meyer is Head of Communications in the South Schleswig Association and lives in the Danish-German borderland.
He describes how it becomes difficult time and time again not to be able to use MobilePay – even at very ordinary events.
This is how it writes TV SYD.
For many in the Danish minority, it is not only a practical problem, but also an emotional. They feel linked to Danish society they otherwise identify with.
CPR, MitID and Danish Mobile Number Required
To use MobilePay, one must meet a number of requirements: Danish CPR number, MitID, bank account, mobile number and debit card-all issued in Denmark.
This makes it difficult for Danes resident in Germany.
« We can actually get a Danish CPR number with dual citizenship. It’s just an administrative number that can’t be used for everything, » explains Rasmus Meyer.
Jens A. Christiansen, Secretary General of SSF, points out that it creates barriers – both emotionally and practically.
« We suddenly find that we do not have the direct access to Danish society and the Danish cultural space. And it is a barrier to the work we do, » he says.
Digitization in Denmark is increasing, and the fear of being put further outside is real.
Questions have been raised in both the Ministry of Culture and the South Schleswig Committee, but the problem is complex.
Nevertheless, both SSF and Rasmus Meyer hope that one can find a solution – as has happened in the Faroe Islands and which is now considered in Norway and Sweden.
