Misunderstanding in the sheet metal | Luxembourg word
At home, my wife and I share a lot of tasks – the spring visit to the control station in Sandweiler falls into my area of responsibility. Even though I haven’t had my own car for seven years – I exchanged it for a bike. Fairyly, however, I have to admit: I have a bus stop in sight, also a car sharing subscription, and both my mother and my wife generously borrow your vehicles if necessary. So I don’t have to fear stranding somewhere outside of bike paths.
This time my appointment at the control station falls on a Friday afternoon, shortly before the end of the day. The mood is solved accordingly. After almost 15 minutes, the friendly controller brings me back the car and says: « Everything ok, just for information: déi viisch plaque sens Net méi a so guddem zive stand. »
New Year’s greetings from the drug dealer
What else he says goes by somehow passing me – I see brake discs already worn out in my mind. « Oh, thank you », I say and cannot help me a small tip: with my wife it would just be a little more stressed, she also drives a little … The controller looks at me without understanding. No nod, no smile. Nothing. Then it dawns: « Plaquen » does not mean the brake discs – but the front license plate.
Lesson learned: I shouldn’t blaspheme about my wife.
It is actually slightly dented. And the black letters begin to break away from the yellow background. And I suspect such a vague: wasn’t it even there? Wasn’t that myself? Not my wife.
What should I say? Lesson learned: I shouldn’t blaspheme about my wife. And certainly not when I’m to blame myself.
From the life of the LW journalists
The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
