Missing dachshund found on island – after 529 days

Valerie ran away in November 2023. After a promising introduction to the search, it became completely silent for over a year.

But a few months ago, information came in social media that Valerie had been seen. Since then, the search – which has captured the public’s interest – has been ongoing. Local game keepers have offered their help and have among other things placed cameras and traps.

And after coming close to several times without succeeding in catching her, she finally got stuck – after 529 days.

It took a trap where one step by step put in Valeries toys and bed, which she acquainted over time and which slowly calmed her. In the end, she lay down there and slept.

– There was no chance that we would let that dachshund run away from us again, says game keeper Jared.

Experts call the Fyrakilos dog’s survival « incredible ». Matte Georgia and Husse Josh are said to be overjoyed but will have to wait for a week before being sent home to Albury in New South Wales, for her to have time to adapt.
