Miserable water to taps

The consumption of water delivered through the public supply system in the city of Breaza was forbidden after problems related to the cloudy appearance and its ugly odor were reported.

The mayor of the city, Bogdan Novac, told AGERPRES on Monday that the problems appeared on Friday, and on Saturday, water tests were taken by the representatives of the Prahova Public Health Directorate.

« We have a problem with water related to appearance and smell – a brown color and a disturbing odor, which differs from area to area. It generally has a smell of medicines, » said the mayor.

On the other hand, the locals claim in the comments posted on Facebook that the water has a smell of hazn.

The Hidro Prahova operator initially announced that the problems would be caused by fluctuations of the electric current, which led to some damage to the pumping stations.

« The Hidro Prahova teams are on the ground and intervene with controlled purging procedures, to eliminate the affected water and to restore the quality of the food service, » the operator said, in the first phase.

Subsequently, the authorities instituted the prohibition of water use for human consumption until the quality of water quality confirms through the analysis bulletins.

In this context, Hidro Prahova ensures the distribution of drinking water through containers located in several areas of the city.

At the same time, the public water supply network will be sanitized by a specialized company.

« During tomorrow, April 29, as an additional safety measure, a specialized company, contracted by Hidro Prahova SA, will carry out washing and sanitation operations of the public water supply network in the city of Breaza. These works aim to ensure the quality of the water supply service and to restore the normal conditions, »

According to Bogdan Novac, the city of Breaza has about 16,000 inhabitants.
