Mircea Lucescu: « We intend to risk »
The coach of the national football team of Romania, Mircea Lucescu, said on Friday evening, in a press conference in Vienna, that in the away match with Austria, from the preliminaries CM 2026, he intends to risk as much as needed, emphasizing that he analyzed the opponent very well.
‘Austria is a team that has been playing for a long time, has a game of play and a soul homogeneity, I could say. They have mature players, players at the best level of sports performance. So we meet a team we know, they also know us. In this confrontation I hope that our state of mind, which is special, help us to balance the experience of their players who evolve in the German championship. We intend to risk tomorrow as much as needed in a game. I can’t talk about them, about their qualities, but be convinced that I analyzed them very well. They have a game they cannot give up, they also practiced it in the European Championship preliminaries and the final tournament. Their players are the same, there are 11-12 players who evolve every time. A national team was built as a club team. Austria also has an extraordinary coach, who knew how to impose his philosophy. We know it is a team that vertically. So we know what to expect. Now let’s see to what extent we can anticipate, « he said.
‘Let’s see to what extent we can overcome the unmerited defeat with Bosnia. Because we can’t hide, we were simply stolen. That referee at that time was no longer delegated by UEFA, so it means that his mistake was colossal, given that a competition in which any point matters to reach the World Cup. It is enough to make someone wrong and especially intentionally, and the other team loses. And it is not just about points, but also the mood that is influenced. I think the boys went over this, we gathered, we tried to restore our morale. In a short time I think we managed to form a homogeneous group that would very much like to win the match of tomorrow. With what means and what will happen, we will see on the ground, « added Lucescu.
The Romanian players must compensate for the superior experience of the Austrians with a fantastic giving, « says the coach.
‘I hope to bring in the field a lot of competitive energy and an emotional balance that will allow us to play with great confidence in ourselves and our potential. That’s essential. They have a very well -developed type of game, they demonstrated this at the European Championship, they won important matches there. So they have a higher experience. We can compensate with a fantastic dedication. And I am convinced that we will have it, « said the coach.
Mircea Lucescu explained that the striker Louis Munteanu suffered a myositis and not to risk a more serious injury has been sent to the youth lot with which he will participate from June 11 in the European U21 Championship in Slovakia.
‘Louis remained after the training to shoot at the gate, as the players usually do. He exaggerated a little and made a myositis (no – pain after increased physical exertion). He had presented himself very well during this period, he had a special desire to play. Unfortunately, this happened and we preferred not to force and go and help the national youth team at the European Championship. Because he could not play in the match with Austria anyway. We hope to recover for the match of the national youth with Italy, « said Lucescu.
The defender of the national football team of Romania Andrei Burcă said that ‘tricolors’ are confident that they can impose their game in the match with Austria away, from the World Cup preliminaries, and that they will win the three points that will keep them in the fight for qualification.
‘It is a competition first, there are still parties to play. It is an extremely important match, we are aware of this. We have prepared something with mystery, we are ready to put a practice everything we have worked during this period. When you play for the tricolor and for the national team there is always pressure, it does not matter the opponent you have in front. It is important to be prepared for any party and we enter the field determined and confident that we can make the Romanians proud, that we can impose our game and that we can come out victorious, « said Burcă, in a press conference in Vienna.
He debuted to the national team in a match with Austria, won by Romania 3-2 on September 7, 2020 in the League of Nations, and would like that result to repeat on Saturday.
‘I would be very happy to repeat the result of 2-3 from my debut to the national team, with Austria. However, the score does not matter, it is important to have the three points when we leave the field. Austria is a team who has players who have been working for a long time, have many players who evolve in the Bundesliga. It is a team that is based on physical strength, in intensity. I studied them very well with mystery, we expect to play on side areas. We can counteract the game they want to impose. The experience from the European Championship gives us confidence, plus the confidence we have from mystery through what we work with. Because it puts us very much to think, to enter the field concentrated and to be able to cope with any opponent, « he said.
Andrei Burcă was pleased with the large number of Romanian supporters who will be present at the Vienna match.
‘I am amazed, I know that the tickets that were granted by the hosts have been sold very quickly and I am glad that there will be such a large number of Romanians in the stands. It seems that we are always a self -employed people. We have the experience of last year from Germany, when we had the yellow wall in the back and we felt very good on the field. We hope to repeat the same story, ‘Burcă said.
