The Flemish government has decided that the job bonus will continue to follow the pace of rising consumption prices. Zuhal Demir attracts the wage boundaries, so that people do not suddenly lose their job bonus.

For the lowest wages, the Flemish government has foreseen a bonus since the previous legislature: the job bonus. Up to 700 euros net, in order to make the difference between working and non-working a little bigger. You get that full bonus so far when you earn a minimum wage of 2,100 gross per month. Up to and including a wage of 3,099 euros gross you can get part of the job bonus. The higher the wage, the less strong the bonus.

But wages are automatically indexed in our country and follow the rising consumption prices. Due to their increased wages, many people threatened to miss their job bonus. But on the request of Minister of Work Zuhal Demir (N-VA), the Flemish government has decided to withdraw the wage boundaries in two steps. The lower limit of 2,100 euros will be 2,155 euros, the upper limit of 3,099 euros will be 3,155 euros. « This way we ensure that nobody suddenly falls out of the boat, » says Minister Demir.

The cabinet of Minister Demir has worked out a number of cases to highlight the impact. For example, a clerk with a modest wage of 3,114 euros gross per month would no longer have received a job bonus. With the decision, he/she will soon receive a bonus of 94 euros. You get such a bonus the year after your work performance delivered. Demir also says that 10 percent of all bonuses are paid to cleaning aids.

However, the Flemish government would first delete the job bonus, because the federal government wants to lower the burden on work. But since the latter will only start from 2027, the job bonus will therefore be retained for the time being. « As long as there is no federal reduction in charge that fully compensates for the loss of the job bonus, the measure will continue to exist, » said Demir. « This is how we protect the purchasing power of 900,000 working Flemish people. »
