Minister Durmishi announces new measures at the end of April if needed

The decision to limit the gross profit margin of basic foodstuffs and part of the hygiene funds and the decision to determine the highest prices of eight groups of foodstuffs end at the end of this month. Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi says the situation will be monitored and other measures will be adopted.

« We will monitor the situation, if inflation increases by accident, we will act accordingly and bring other measures, » Durmishi said at today’s press conference.

According to him, the two measures produced the expected results because according to the State Statistical Office in March inflation decreased by 2.7 percent annually, and compared to February a 1.3 percent deflation.

At the proposal of the Ministry of Economy, a decision was made to limit the gross profit margin of 102 product groups and a decision to determine the highest prices of eight groups of foodstuffs. The decisions came into force on February 20 and last until April 30.

From Friday, retailers will also need to publicly publish products prices on their websites and update them every day by 10am. Prices should be published in a separate section of the website and be available without registration or additional login on the website. This stems from the amendments to the Consumer Protection Act adopted in March.

– The amendments to the Law came into force on March 4 and it is foreseen within 45 days of the publication of the Law in the Official Gazette of each retailer and to announce the current sales price of the products. In accordance with the amendments and the Rulebook prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Labor, traders starting April 18 will have to publish prices on their website-Durmishi said at a news conference.
