Minecraft film: Tikok trend has been spared Chaos-Luxembourg so far

Since the beginning of April « A Minecraft Movie“The cinema screens worldwide and turns out to be a real box office hit. But the video game hit not only makes headlines because of its pick-up results-a viral Tikok trend transforms cinemas into real chaos zones.

The latest social media hype encourages viewers to fully freak out during a certain film scene. Numerous videos are already circulating on Tiktok in which cinema goers joined, with popcorn and drinks around and even devastate the halls in some places. A particularly curious case: a visitor was accompanied after – no joke – kept a living chicken up!

Trigger of the whole hustle and bustle? A certain scene in the film in which a baby zombie jumps on the back of a chicken and thus forms the « chicken jockey », which is extremely rare in the game. When Jack Black, who plays the character Steve, inspires « Chicken Jockey! » Call out, the fans literally freak out. Videos of these exuberant reactions spread on the opening weekend like a running fire and fueled the trend.

Trend occurs worldwide

The phenomenon no longer stops at national borders. From the United States to Great Britain to Germany – cinemas of high -spirited spectators report everywhere. In Münster and Wittenberg, devastated cinemas had to be cleaned up. The township Theater in Washington, New Jersey, even introduced an obligation to accompany minors after a « regrettable incident » with rioting young people. British cinemas like the CineWorld in Witney have published warnings, and the Regent Cinema in Wales announced a tough “zero tolerance policy”-ideas are canceled if necessary.

At the request of the « Luxemburger Word », Kinepolis Luxembourg said that fortunately there was no such incident in connection with the film in one of her cinemas. « Of course we remain attentive and vigilant, and our teams in the rooms are trained to react quickly to inappropriate behavior in order to enable all of our visitors a pleasant experience, » explains a spokesman for the cinema operator. Caramba and Cinextdoor were similar.

Hard with chaots

The trend is a real nightmare scenario for the cinema opera in the affected cinemas. Employees report unprecedented mess and sometimes even destroyed facility. Many are at the end of their strength and secretly count the days until the film disappears from the program. It is almost impossible to identify individual troublemakers if the whole hall rages at the same time. In a particularly wild case, thirty young visitors had to be put at the door at once.

The operators react differently to the challenge. While most cinemas are consistently throwing out of interference and even calling the police in the event of serious incidents, the British chain Cineworld is a creative way: it offers special ideas in which exuberant behavior and calling « Chicken Jockey! » are expressly allowed.

Nadine Petit, responsible for the Ciné Scala in Diekirch, said that the cinema has worked out a corresponding procedure with measures for such incidents. For such demonstrations, employees in the hall, which are also entitled to intervene, and the relevant people are warned before they are asked to leave the hall. « If you do not meet this request, we stop the film and call the police, » she explains. In addition, the cinemas are video monitored.

If, as to see in some videos, complete chaos breaks out in the hall, the SCALA employees would immediately interrupt the film and cleared the hall. « I would call the police alone to protect the staff. After all, it would not be the first time that people who freak out are also palpable. »

The situation has a certain irony: after a long doldrum, a film finally attracts the masses to the cinemas – but with an excess of enthusiasm. It is a double -edged sword for the employees who have been struggling with increasing misconduct since pandemic anyway. Experience shows that too many warnings can even reinforce the rebel effect and make the situation worse.
