Milorad Dodik will not yet proclaim the independence of RS

President of the Republic of Serbian (RS) Milorad Dodik, who threatened her with the exit from Bosnia, until he takes radical steps – even despite the conviction issued by the Bosnian court. However, the adoption of laws prohibiting the activities of a number of the most important structures of Bosnia on its territory, that is, strengthening the actual independence of the republic, has been launched in the parliament of RS. With details – Kommersant correspondent in the Balkans Gennady Sysoev.

Immediately after the court in Sarajevo sentenced the President of the Republic of Serbian Milorad Dodik to the year of prison and a six -year ban on engaging in politics (See “Kommersant” from February 27), he announced his supporters who gathered at the rally in his support, that « freedom and the very existence of RS were called into question. » After that, many expected a referendum from the leader of the Bosnian Serbs to hold a referendum on the Bosnia branch from Bosnia, which he spoke about earlier. However, Milorad Dodik, on the contrary, reduced the tonality of his rhetoric. This happened after his meeting with Serbia President Alexander Vucic, who hastily arrived in the capital of the RS Banya-Luku.

Alexander Vucich criticized the verdict to the President of the RS, saying that he was « directed against the Republic of the Serbian and Serbian people as a whole. » Nevertheless, he urged his colleague to demonstrate « Serbian commitment to the world and dialogue, and not threats and blackmail. » “I asked Milorad Dodik to invite all Bosnia’s political actors to dialogue,” the leader of Serbia explained.

After that, the President of the RS announced that « the Republic of Serbskaya has advocated the preservation of peace, she does not have any warlike plans. »

“We are ready for negotiations, but we will not allow our interests to ignore. The Republic of Serbian will only demand what the Bosnia constitution guarantees it, ”Milorad Dodik assured.

In parallel in the Republic of Serbian, the adoption of laws prohibiting the activities on its territory of the most important structures of Bosnia was in a hurry. Immediately after the announcement of the conviction to Milorad Dodik, the RS parliament adopted a resolution, which states that the court in Sarajevo « committed a coup d'etat and completely undermined the constitutional order of Bosnia. » The Parliament called on the Government of the RS to urgently prepare for the adoption by deputies the laws on the ban on activities in the RS court of Bosnia, the State Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, as well as the main Bosnian intelligence agency – the Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). After only a few hours, the government prepared all these laws, approved and sent to the parliament “for adoption on an emergency”.

Thus, without refusing in principle, the idea of the referendum on the independence of the Republic of Serbian, its leadership, it seems, decided not to force its holding, but to ensure the consolidation of the actual independence of the RS in the framework of Bosnia.

In addition to the call of the president of neighboring Serbia, who called for the “world and dialogue, and not to threats and blackmail,” the position of the American State Department, who supported on Thursday, Milorad Dodik, probably influenced the leaders of the RS. “We strongly oppose any actions of local leaders who would violate safety and stability. We support the Deuton agreements, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ”the State Department said.

Regional experts believe that the President of the Republic of Serbian will continue and henceforth periodically threaten it with a branch in the hope of strengthening the independence of the RS, and, if possible, extend his political age. “Milorad Dodik, most likely, will not give up so simply. It will continue to threaten the branch and non -compliance of the laws of Bosnia, but, as before, it will stop at the level of verbal threats without their implementation, ”commented“ Kommersant ”by the Croatian foreign policy expert Vlad Vurushich. And a possible compromise of the Bosnian authorities with a dodk could look like this: from a prison term, he will be redeemed by a fine of 36 thousand Bosniy Moroks. (about € 18 thousand), as provided for by Bosnian laws, but he will have to go to a political pension. ”
