The French right -wing populist Marine Le Pen sees after her conviction No more chance in participating in the 2027 presidential election. « To say it clearly: I am excluded, but in reality there are millions of French people whose voices have been excluded, » Le Pen told TF1 on Monday evening. If she succeeds in tipping the judgment in time, she will run for the presidential office. However, she has no trust in the fact that she was listened to before the election. In surveys, Le Pen was recently favorite to the presidency.
The 56-year-old also said that the court made a political decision. It should be kept away from the 2027 election. But she was innocent. The judgment was supposed to outrage all those who believed in democracy. However, it does not mean that she is now withdrawing from politics.
A court in Paris had judged, among other things, that Le Pen was excluded by all public offices with immediate effect for five years. The court saw it as proven that Le Pen, as chairwoman of the party RN, has misappropriated more than four million euros from the European Parliament funds in order to pay employees of the party in France.
Reactions of right politicians
US President Donald Trump compared Marine Le Pen’s temporary exclusion in elections in the United States. « It’s a very big deal. I know everything about it, » he said at a press date in the White House. « She was forbidden to run for five years and she is the top candidate. That sounds like this country, » said Trump.
For Le Penspat political ambitions, the result of the process is a disaster. Due to the great popularity of Le Pen in France, it is also a tricky – moderate politicians had also registered concerns because it could be narrative that the judgment was politically motivated to prevent Le Pen as president.

« Killed French democracy »
Party leader Jordan Bardella – he is also considered a possible crown prince of the racial nationally – commented on the judgment against Le Pen: « Today, not only Marine Le Pen was wrongly convicted: it was the French democracy that was killed. » Le Pens niece, Marion Maréchal, let: « Marine Le Pen has brought our warehouse to victory. This is the only one she is guilty, and therefore she was convicted. »
European politicians in the political right were horrified by the judgment. The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote, for example, on social media: « Je Suis Marine! », In line with expressions of solidarity, for example after the attack on the satirical magazine « Charlie Hebdo ». Also Italy’s party leader of the Lega, Matteo Salvini, let you know: « In Paris you condemned Marine Le Pen and would like to rule out political life – an ugly film that we also see in other countries like Romania » – a narrative that has been successful since Donald Trump’s convicts before his recent election to the US President than with voters.
