Miletic: ‘IDS support to my candidacy is a logical decision’
Istrian Mayor and Independent Candidate Boris Miletic said on Thursday that the support he received from IDS in the second round of local elections is a logical decision with regard to the compatibility of numerous views and policies, starting with the regional identity onwards.
I think this is a logical sequence of party leadership and that is why I am extremely grateful, as well as numerous independent lists and associations of national communities and minorities who have supported my list in the first round of local elections, Boris Miletic said at a press conference in Pula.
« I believe that the HDZ voters in the choice between the SDP candidate and our independent list will know how to decide who to give their trust, » he said. Being a mayor in a political sense, he says, is the most honorable duty that a politician from Istria can perform.
« The mayor must know how to cooperate. The times are such that places for quarrels and divisions are not welcome. As I have promoted the culture of dialogue and cooperation in these four years, I do this in this pre -election time, and I will do so in the future, » he emphasized.
Asked if the IDS decision could lead to additional divisions within the IDS, he replied that he believed that the decision would further homogenize the electorate of that party.
« We have two options in the second round-SDP’s and my independent list. I’m sure my list with my securities and public policies is much closer and more compatible with IDS than the SDP is, » Miletic said.
« I have never promised something in the campaign something that is impossible to realize. Therefore, safely, stable and above all, we want to continue and in the second term together with my team. I don’t think only the day of the second round of the election on June 1, but that is also the day of the election that will go forward, » said Miletic, « Miletic said
