Milan Badelj revealed: I am returning to Croatia, and I will remember Genoa
Former Croatian national team player Milan Badelj said goodbye to Genoa fans in a defeat of Fiorentine (2-3) when in the 67th minute with ovation left the lawn. It was a very emotional moment for Badelj, which he confirmed after the game.

– There were so many emotions, it’s hard for me to find the right words. These were some of the most special days of my career, in front of the people who accepted me and who I really gave me – he started and added:
– Genoa was my home. I’m not out of Genoa, but I immediately felt how they accepted me and that relationship only grew over time. The decision to leave was not easy, I thought for a long time.
Badelj confirmed to the Italians that he returned to Croatia where he began his professional career. He passed the Zagreb and Dinamo Football School and started his senior career at « Blue » and played from 2007 to 2012 (with one loan in Lokomotiva). In the summer of 2012, he joined HSV and was then led by Fiorentina, Lazio and Genoa.
– Yes, I’m going back to Croatia. The decision to stop playing is not yet final, although it seems much faster than that of leaving Genoa. I tried to bring respect wherever I was, and I always got it from my teammates – he said, and gave a confession to the Genoa fans for the farewell they prepared.
– The respect and love I received from the teammate are a sign that I did well. I couldn’t want better forgiveness, everything was perfect: from the youngest to the oldest, but they know it. I don’t need to say anything more.
