Mieszko R. in custody. What next with the crime at the University of Warsaw?
On May 8, i.e. on the day on which the attack took place, a young 22-year-old student Mieszko R. first stayed in his family home in the Tri-City. Then he went to Warsaw, where he studied law every day. He had an ax, bayonet and knives with him.
As he explained to investigators – he believed that « there are predators and victims in the world. » The first person encountered was a 53-year-old administrative employee. Mrs. Małgorzata was attacked when she closed the door to the auditorium Maximum. She died on the spot.
A 39-year-old academic guard stood in defense of the attacked, he was seriously injured in the head and hands. Only other UW guards with a state protection service officer who was in place.

Three days after the crime, the network circulated that Mieszko R. will spend the next three months in Radom, but in outpatient conditions, in a psychiatric institution.
– Now time is not for lawyers, but for doctors. He is a seriously ill man who does not need a cell but a bed in the hospital. I have no doubt about this – Maciej Zaborowski told us at the time.
It depends on whether the student is or is not readable whether he is criminal liability. – The opinion may come out that the accused is readable and then we can fight for life imprisonment. If it turns out that it is not readable, there will be no indictment at all – explains to « Fakt » prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba.
If the proceedings were discontinued, it does not mean that the case will go into oblivion. The court may decide a different form of deprivation of liberty – at the Department of Forensic Psychiatry with enhanced security.

But as « Fakt » found out, Mieszko R. has not yet hit the research, and as it hit, it will be very thoroughly examined. The indictment itself will not go to court too quickly. Our information shows that investigators do not want the situation that took place in the case of Kajetan P. hailed by the media « Hannibal of Żoliborz ». In 2016, a man of cold blood killed a 30-year-old woman who gave him an Italian lesson.
Kajetan P. underwent psychiatric examinations. However, in some cases expert opinions were incompatible, which resulted in the deferment of the trial. Six years after the crime he was found guilty.
