Midwives deprived of a seven -year license due to professional irregularities

In the process of extraordinary professional supervision, carried out by the Chamber of Nursing and Midwifery of Slovenia – the Association of Professional Societies of Nurses, Midwives and Health Technicians of Slovenia, was a Baby Graduate Taks Moškrič A deprived license for independent midwifery care. In accordance with the decision issued on the basis of the findings of the supervision, her license was deprived of a period of seven years, which represents the longest possible measure under the applicable Rules on the Register and Licens of Nursing and Midwifery.

Extraordinary professional supervision performed at the Pinard Institute, where Moškrič carried out the activity of midwifery care, revealed several important professional shortcomings in the implementation of home births. The Supervisory Board of the Chamber – the Association found that the activity did not take place in accordance with « professional guidelines for the planned childbirth », which set the conditions and professional standards for the safe implementation of childbirth outside the hospital environment.

Particularly problematic were the findings related to the failure to comply with risk factors, which means that the obstetricians and their newborns were not provided with an adequate level of safety as prescribed by national professional guidelines.

Chamber – The Union in this connection points out that a uniform position is both the midwifery and the medical profession, that childbirth is still the safest form for the mother and the baby. This emphasizes the importance of an organized health environment, where it is possible to quickly provide adequate medical attention.
