We, as an executive, will act upon the order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and in coordination with the court. The investigation is conducted by the public prosecutor, not me. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, together with the court, determines what measures and which persons will be covered, and whether senior government officials should be arrested, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said today, answering the parliamentary question of the tragic event in Kocani.

At today’s parliamentary session dedicated to parliamentary issues, SDSM MP Mitko Trajculeski asked Mickoski, which referred to the tragedy in Kocani. He has asked how far the investigation is and whether there will be a moral responsibility for the tragedy that claimed 62 young lives and over 100 injured.

-After more than a month we can clearly conclude that the highest government officials there is no moral vertical, there is no sense of moral responsibility and that is why today we have no resignation for moral reasons. This is a dire for a government after an accident of such a proportion and with such a number of lost human lives. But morality is not discussed, a person either has or is gone. The second conclusion is the conduct of a selective investigation that should essentially protect the current holders of senior positions in the Ministry of Interior, the State Market Inspectorate and other institutions of their responsibility. My question is whether the conscious and tendentious dilution of the investigation is to hinder justice and to protect current officials who are directly guilty of the immediate causes of the fire – said Trajculeski.

Prime Minister Mickoski responded that the investigation into the tragedy in Kocani was led by the public prosecutor, not the government.

-The campaign for the local elections will start today. Citizens will say whose political career ends, whose political career continues and in what format it will continue. The investigation is conducted by the public prosecutor. Not me, and not the government. If the public prosecutor decides that they should detain me, let them arrest me at the same moment. If the public prosecutor decides to go to jail, I will go – said Mickoski.

He added, he does not know which people will be covered in the investigation, it is a question to be asked to the public prosecutor.

-In total, 68 people have so far been involved in the investigation by the public prosecutor. Unlike the modular hospital, when live people, Laskarci, Besa Trans, where 75 of our fellow citizens died. Then there were zero defendants. Whether they stay 68 or be 168 I don’t know, the prosecution will say, not me. I’m not saying, the Minister of Interior does not say. The prosecution, together with the court, determines what measures and which persons will be covered. If the prosecutor says he should arrest and bring senior government officials from this government, that will be heard. At the end of the day, one member of the government is in custody. In your time, it was an impossible mission – Mickoski added.

He noted that the same prosecutors and judges who are elected by SDSM are acting.

-This is obliged to know whether the location has a license or not, it should know the body that issues it, more precisely the Ministry of Economy. They had a license, but what was not legal is another, as they were not valid and legal other licenses issued by this authority. Concerning the order of the prosecution and the court, the incumbent mayor is in custody. When talking about morality, ethics and conducting investigations and acting on the same, at least you have the right to speak. We need to leave families and parents, because in them the pain and sadness is huge – Mickoski said.
