Michel Scholer replaces Christine Goy as the Secretary General of the Government
The government council, which met on Friday, decided to reorganize the State Ministry. As can be seen from a press release, Michel Scholer, currently chief of staff of the Prime Minister, is appointed government Secretary General with effect from May 1, 2025.
He replaces Christine Goy, « the new challenges in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, their original administration, will devote themselves, » said the press text.
At the request of the « Luxemburger Word », Goy did not want to comment on the reasons for changing staff. She only said that she started her career in the Foreign Ministry and would go back to the diplomatic service.
Peace sees progress in security – « real danger » for Europe
The government explains that the position of the head of the staff is abolished. The main tasks of the head of the staff would continue to be perceived by Michel Scholer. « The entire cabinet remains responsible for the strategic advice of the Prime Minister, » said the message.
New security advisor
In view of the international context, Jacques Thill, previously the first government advisor in the State Ministry, is also appointed « security advisor » in the Prime Minister office, the State Ministry writes. He is intended to « coordinate the cross -functional files of the Ministry in the area of security (…), in particular those who concern the High Commissioner for National Security, the State Secret Service and Space Policy ».
