Mexhiti: A total of 226 pages for online gambling, the new Law on Gaming will be more rigorous
Deputy Prime Minister Izet Mexhiti and one of the political leaders of the « Worth » coalition at today’s press conference informed that as the Government they have a concrete result in the fight against the criminal industry of gambling and games of chance. The government’s decision to block 173 online gambling websites, he said, is being fulfilled one of the clearest promises they have made to the citizens.
With these online gambling websites, which, according to him, illegally offered gambling services in the country, and the previous 53 pages blocked last month, the figure is 226.
– Imagine in less than two months we closed 226 pages for illegal online gambling and this figure is not final. Just imagine for a moment how deep and how far the gambling mafia has penetrated in our lives and what damage has caused in individuals and families affected by this epidemic. 226 is not just a figure. This is a direct blow to a criminal network that has been planned for years and protected from structures related to the previous government. Unfortunately, a political party that today presents itself as the guardian of the rights and dignified life of the Albanians was a major sponsor of gambling and including directly in the industry – Medziti said.
He believes that that political party said, as he said, the gambling mafia has given the necessary political shield to grow and develop without endangering anyone.
– As a result, our settlements were packed with casinos, and our phones, tablets and computers have become the target of an attack on illegal platforms for play of chance. What DUI has done to Albanian society in Northern Macedonia is a serious disaster and there will be responsibility for this disaster. In just a year we managed to reduce the action of the country’s games by 40 percent. This is a major step and clear evidence of the determination of « worth » to compromise with anyone who endangers our society. If we had casinos besides schools until yesterday, besides the lives of our children today we establish order, law and dignity. Until yesterday, DUI was building gambling empires, poverty and despair of Albanians. Today it is « worth » crashing those empires and building the future – Medziti said.
He urged citizens, and especially young people not to be victims of fraudulent emails and not accept illegal platforms. If they have deposited funds on those pages, he said to withdraw them as soon as possible, and says the state is acting so those platforms will not exist any more.
– For years, DUI gambled with the fate of Albanians turned poverty into business, and despair into power. That time ended. « Worth » is not part of the old system, « it’s worth not talking » with empty words, is worth it. To our society and our national morality we cut the cobweb on the casino mafia in which they want to captivate our children.
He announced that the government is working intensively on the new Law on Happiness, which, according to Medziti, will be 50 to 70 % more rigorous than the previous law.
