Mette Frederiksen gets crazy wage increase

Two steps to the million -hopped

Behind the salary increase hides a double mechanism. First, a five percent temporary decline in ministerial salaries from 2011 was removed. Then followed an extraordinarily large increase via the so -called regulatory percentage, which regulates the ministerial salaries according to the development of the public sector’s salary level.

The general wage developments among privately employed Danes have, by comparison, increased by 4.4 percent in the past year, according to the Danish Employers’ Association. And across the entire labor market, according to Statistics Denmark, wages have risen by 4.8 percent from New Year to New Year.

The violent regulation in the ministerial salaries in 2025 of 7.4 percent is due, among other things, to the tripartite agreement from 2023 and the new public agreements from 2024, which have pushed up wage levels.

A new 1 May tradition

Where it was previously a tradition that the chairman of the Social Democracy spoke to the many attendees in the Common Park on the Workers’ International Match Day, Mette Frederiksen has replaced the stage. After riots and fights in front of the stage at her latest performance in the Common Park, she has chosen to move her speech to Odense.

At the same time, Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard (S) takes over to the Common Park, where he instead gives this year’s Social Democratic speech in Zealand.
