MEPSO can exclude photovoltaics for a stable system for May 1
In the direction of the Minister of Energy Sanja Bozinovska, for the upcoming holiday of May 1, the measures applied by the MEPSO electrical system and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) during the Easter holidays will be again activated in order to provide a stable and reliable system. The decision, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Raw materials said, was made at an extraordinary meeting of Minister Bozinovska with ERC President Marko Bislimoski and MEPSO Deputy General Director Aleksandar Paunovski.
– These two days in Athens, where the Balkan Energy Summit is being held, we talked to colleagues from the region and coordinated around the measures that all countries must take for a stable system. As we have already informed, with coordination between all the key energy stakeholders and in the direction of the ENTSO-E, MEPSO has already taken some of those measures for Easter holidays and we have managed to neutralize the risk of blackout-the citizens had a smooth electricity supply. Estimates are that this situation will continue for the upcoming May Day holidays and therefore it is necessary to activate these measures again – said Minister Bozinovska.
This measure, which was first applied during the Easter holidays, involves temporarily shutting down photovoltaic power plants in order to unload the power grid and to allow for a secure system management in conditions of increased fluctuations and loads.
The measures provide for the application of corrective dispatch interventions, ie temporary and alternating disconnection of part of the photovoltaic power plants connected to the transmission and distribution network, which will have the full opportunity to manage the system and ensure its stability, Mer informs.
