Men’s breast augmentation – a more common problem than you think
Why men start to grow their breasts, how to deal with it surgically and when not to do so, the Fi Clinica plastic and reconstructive surgery doctor Vygintas Kaikaris said more.
– What number of men face the problem when the chest starts to increase?
– Let’s talk about gynecomastia. It is a Greek word consisting of two parts: « Gyneko » – chest and « mast » – feminine. A man with a female chest has gynecomastia. It can be true when the thoracic gland enlarges, and the so -called pseudogynecomastia, when the heavy weight loss is simply tightened. Interestingly, gynecomastia in men can occur in newbornness, due to the effects of breast milk and androgen, as well as in adolescence due to hormone imbalances and 60 years of decrease in testosterone levels. About 50 percent Men face this problem in their lives.
However, this does not mean that every Lithuanian man should have a gynecomastic surgery. Often it passes spontaneously. Surgery is performed only when gynecomastia lasts more than a year if the breasts become painful or cause serious psychological discomfort.

– Who is mostly determined to do such a procedure – young men or older? Athletes? Maybe those who started a new relationship?
– I always say that a person appeals to a plastic surgeon when one can no longer agree with one person – his image in the mirror. If you manage to agree, the surgeon does not need. Rarely, gynecomastia causes such pain to make them a major cause of seeking help. Seriously, it is important to know that breast cancer can also occur in men. It is characterized by one enlarged breast, nipple discharge, nipple deformation or hard bump in the breast. In this case, it is not gynecomastia that should be consulted.
– How often do women bring men to you?
– No. Most men come by themselves. Mostly, they are mature men who made the decision themselves. For adolescents, gynecomastia usually disappears spontaneously. Another common case is athletes who have abused anabolic hormones. They can increase not only the muscles, but also the chest gland, which is with everyone.

– Is gynecomastia reduced without surgery?
– If gynecomastia is long -term and does not cause medication or other things, it can only be removed by surgery. The incision is a small one under the nipple, anesthesia, surgery takes an hour and a half, all the discomfort is 2 weeks, walking in an elastic bint. Finally, those results are really gratifying men.
– I know that male chest implants also exist. Is it true that they are chosen by those who are lazy to exercise?
– Each church has its own saints. In our clinic, we believe that the best male chest implant is pressures. Don’t be lazy to make them in the morning and you won’t need any implants.

– But a woman won’t exercise her chest?
– True. However, the implant is neither feminine nor masculine. It is not for life. Although the implant itself can last a long time, it moves in the body and rubs, so it is recommended to replace it every 15 years. We tell every woman that this will not be your only operation and you should think about it.
– What procedures do men usually choose?
– One of the most common ones is raising eyelids and eyebrows. Men who hunt or dive complain that the fallen envelopes are interfering with vision. There are also nasal corrections – especially after injuries, such as boxing. Fat is also gaining in popularity, especially after weight loss surgery, when the skin does not shrink.
– What other aesthetic things are interested in men without facial surgery?
– Everything is aesthetic things related to health. There is what the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund compensates. It is the nose where the breathing is impaired, the eyelids falling and the vision of the vision, that is, gynecomastia when causing pain and psychological discomfort.
