Mehmet Nizam became the President of the Farmers’ Association again – Cyprus Newspaper
The 37th General Assembly of the Turkish Cypriot Farmers’ Association was held yesterday; The current president Mehmet Nizam was unanimously elected as the President of the Union in the election where he was the only candidate.
According to a written statement made by the Union, President Ersin Tatar, Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Hüseyin Çavuş, CTP Secretary General Erkut Şahali, some deputies, some bureaucrats and members attended.
In his speech after his election to the presidency, Nizam thanked the farmers for the trust of him. Nizam stated that the Union was proud to be the only candidate in the presidential election for the first time in the last 35 -year history.
Stating that the agricultural sector has gone through a challenging period, Nizam said that they will continue an approach that focuses on solution -oriented in the future.
Nizam, « Agriculture needs further support every day. Water resources protection, reducing input costs, young people to get agriculture and domestic production to continue to work to become sustainable. Not only today, we will take steps to think of the future of our children. » he said.
Nizam stated that their goals are to create a stronger organizational structure and to increase the economic power of farmers.
