Medziti: Kicevo to get collector system and treatment plant
Following the long -term delay and in -depth work of the last government and former environmental and spatial planning ministers, the Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning at today’s session, adopted the information on the realization of the project to improve wastewater management in Kicevo, the first deputy minister and minister.
At today’s press conference in the Government, Medziti said the project includes the construction of a collector system and a secondary sewer network and connecting the existing treatment plant.
– We have taken this step because the citizens of Kicevo deserve this project, and since at the beginning there were problems with the organization and the capacity of the contractor we were forced to terminate the contract with the performers who, despite numerous warnings and meetings, showed no significant progress. And on 5.12.2024, 21 of the planned construction 24 months were passed, and the realization was only 17 % – Medziti said.
He informs that in the coming period, through the multi-year public procurement, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning will provide budget funds for this project because, as he said, the projected IPA funds within the sectoral operating program for environmental and climate actions, program period 2014-2020 will no longer be used due to non-compliance.
– These funds will invest in over 20 locations, including the construction of the main sewer collector Zajas – Kicevo, which will extend from the settlement Zajas to the entrance to the city of Kicevo and passes by the Zajaska River, and from existing networks along the collector Zajas – Kicevo – Kicevo. These secondary networks will connect to collector Zajas – Kicevo. Construction of the main sewer collector Zajas – Kicevo is planned about 11 kilometers long. He should accept the wastewater from the Zajas, Greshnica, Dolno and Gorno Strogomishte, Kolibari, Deppin Dol and Trapcin Dol. The wastewater from Zajas-Kicevo collector goes to the treatment and treatment station for waste I lead-informs Medziti.
The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning for the realization of this project will invest through perennial public procurement over a billion denars (1,088,550,000) over the next four years, from 2025 to 2028.
The project includes two agreements – a construction agreement for rehabilitation and expansion of the sewer network in the Municipality of Kicevo and a contract for supervision of construction works.
