This is how medication is wasted, ADIEU petting zoo and living in Zurich
Medicines are sold in too large packs and are then missing elsewhere, Zoff in the Bern Streichzoo and what about the residents of the Sugus houses? The news of the Sunday press, here for you to read.
The offer of conversation between Zurich City President Corine Mauch to Regina Bachmann, the owner of three so-called Sugus houses in Zurich, has remained without echo. Mauch received not even a negative answer from Bachmann, reports the « Sonntagsblick ».
The tenants have to get out. There is no willingness to talk.
No response took place on the mediation attempt by Mauch, which had reached Bachmann in writing together with building construction officer André Odermatt at the end of 2024. « Unfortunately, the two city council members have never received a feedback from the owner on their – on various channels – contacted the owner, » said Mauch's spokeswoman Nadine Markwalder of the newspaper. Mauch had switched on after over 200 residents of the three apartment blocks had received the termination shortly before Christmas on a prime location in Zurich. At the end of March they should move out of the properties because the houses needed a “comprehensive core renovation”, according to the reason. This is « unavoidable » in the three apartment blocks. In six other, identical properties – with other administrations and owners – the tenants can remain.
Zurich SP is launching Airbnb initiative
The initiative text for restriction of short-term rentals in the city of Zurich in the Official Journal will be published next Tuesday: From then on, Zurich SP and allies collect signatures for regulating Airbnb and business apartments, such as the « Sonntagsblick » reported. “Protecting living space” is the title of the concern that wants to ban the short -term rental of apartments for more than 90 days a year, provided that the housed people come from outside the city. The initiators need 3000 signatures within six months so that there is a referendum. Florian Utz, co-president of the SP municipal council group, says short-term rentals reduced the range of housing and led to higher rents. Utz belongs to the initiative committee, as well as National Councilor Jacqueline Badran.
Antibiotics are often sold in packs that are too large
They cost money, are scarce and should only be taken under medical care. Nevertheless, antibiotics are prescribed and sold in too large quantities. A new study by the Helsana health insurance company and the Zurich UniPital shows that around a third of the prescribed packs are too large in five frequent diagnoses, such as the « NZZ on Sunday » reported. And for ten out of 23 treatment recommendations there are no products available on the market that contain the necessary number of tablets, mostly the packs are too large.
Antibiotics are often incorrectly disposed of.
From the point of view of the authors, this finding is critical for several reasons: the drugs that have been released not only put a strain on premium payers, they threaten to be missing for other patients in view of the antibiotic deficiency and can promote the formation of resistance in improper use or disposal. That is why politics is also reacting: the Federal Council wants to introduce a discount on the price in the event of obviously too large medication packs in Switzerland and allow doctors to import from abroad. The individual tax of antibiotics is also checked.
Zoff in the Bern petting zoo: employees stand behind the Dählhölzli boss
The Dählhölzli Zoo in Bern plans a comprehensive redesign in which the popular petting zoo is to be eliminated. This ensures resistance, especially from the SVP. SVP Grand Councilor Thomas Fuchs says: « I don't want to make it clear, which is why you want to abolish the petting zoo. » The zoo line argues that the existing systems are outdated and no longer appropriate to the species. The planned measures are intended to improve animal husbandry, enable barrier -free access and create a species protection center on the Aare.
Is it right or wrong that the petting zoo should go away?
While Fuchs refers to the director of the director earlier, numerous emails from zoo employees show the « Sonntagsblick »Could see, now a completely different picture: employees praise the cooperation as appreciative and emphasize that from Houwald is an empathetic, competent leader. Many see their plans a great chance for the zoo. SP City Councilor Judith Schenk therefore criticizes the SVP campaign as unfair and purely blocking. Nevertheless, the SVP continues to fight for the preservation of the petting zoo and started an initiative last August, which received over 5000 signatures. The Bernese municipal council declared the initiative to be valid on Friday. Now the voters should decide on the project. Despite the otherwise left majority relationships, the vote could be surprisingly assumed, since even a few leftist voters show sympathies for the preservation of the petting zoo. (has)
