Medical association: CNS also contributes to the deficit
The AMMD doctors’ association raises the alarm: The financial imbalance of the National Health Insurance Fund (CNS) could not be solved solely by increases in premiums or austerity measures on the back of the patients. In a press release, the association criticizes the lack of willingness to reform in addition to the structural deficit of the CNS on Wednesday.
According to a current forecast, the CNS expects a deficit of around 25.8 million euros for 2024 and over 130 million in the current year. The legally required reserves could be exhausted within a few years. The AMMD writes that the CNS contributes to the deficit « to a large extent » itself. The functional costs at the health insurance company have grown « particularly strong » in recent years, the association said.
Stopped legislative project
The doctors are disappointed by the quadripartites last week. The AMMD’s suggestions for cost control in medicine and dentistry were not discussed. Structural problems should also be responsible for the reform backlog that the health insurance company does not speak to one vote, since the CNS contradicting interests of state, employee and employer representatives on the board of directors.
In relation to the CNS, unions criticize hesitation of the minister
The AMMD criticizes that a law on the establishment of medical societies was stopped at the beginning of the legislature. These new forms of organization are necessary to relieve the hospitals and strengthen outpatient structures. The development of medical services outside of the clinics must be funded politically according to AMMD
