Mayor UDMR, under prohibition from DNA

Chief mayor Soos Zoltan announced on Monday evening that the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate-Târgu Mureș Territorial Service forbade him to exercise mayor for a period of 60 days, in a corruption file.

‘Today, I was put back in front of a decision that is difficult to understand from Mrs. Mureș, namely the prohibition of exercising specific mayor for a period of 60 days. A measure that strikes not only in me, as mayor, but also in your confidence, of those who have been with me in all these years. It is a measure that blatantly contradicts the previous judgment of the court, which has established that I can exercise my duties legally and naturally. It all starts from an old episode, when, following repeated calls from worried neighbors, I tried to clarify the strange presence of a car that appeared frequently near our homes. Many families with children live in the area. There my children grow up there. Their safety for me is constant, instinctive, deeply human care. It was a gesture of protection, not of personal interest. I asked for information precisely to remove any suspicion, any restless thought. And when I was confirmed that there is no danger, I stopped, I did not use this information in any way, I did not take advantage of them, I did not look for any advantage, « said Soos Zoltan in a video posted on Facebook.

He said he acted exactly how any responsible father did, any neighbor attentive to the others, any man who really cares about others.

‘These facts, already analyzed by the court and considered unproblematic, are now brought back to light, reinterpreted and transformed into a pretext. I wonder with pain, but also with lucidity, unless we are in front of a politically motivated decision. I strictly complied with all the conditions initially imposed by the court, I did not violate any rule, any provision. Therefore, what is happening to me now not only seems deeply unfair to me, but it is also a shot given in the act of justice. I will challenge this decision, because I am convinced that the truth will come to light. I believe with all the being that justice cannot be ignored endlessly and that Romanian justice will understand that I have acted in good faith in the exercise of the duties’, emphasized Soos Zoltan.
