The structure of Iasi of the European Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) carried out, on Wednesday, nine searches in Botosani County, during a fraud investigation and false in documents.

‘The investigation, carried out with the support of the support structure of the EPPO in Romania, of the Economic Crime Investigation Service within the Botoșani County Police Inspectorate and the County Inspectorate of Gendarmes Botoșani, revealed that the mayor, in his previous capacity as a vice-mayor, was involved in other persons, with other persons, with other persons, with other persons, 3.5 million euros (RON 17,773,006), funded from European funds through the Human Capital Operational Program, a European structural fund for promoting economic and social development ‘, says EPPO.
According to investigators, the current mayor and his accomplices have submitted false documents, including fiscal invoices and minutes of receiving the works, to request the reimbursement of renovation of the housing of persons and disadvantaged families, who in fact have not been carried out. As a result of this action, the suspects would have fraudulently obtained about 238,000 euros in the form of grants.
The searches took place just three days after Neculai Șchiopu was chosen by primary vote of Coșula commune, in partial local elections.
