Tienen

Team Tienen has filed a complaint with the Agency for the Domestic Administration against Mayor Jonathan Holslag (Daring). According to the opposition party, there is a flagrant conflict of interest.

« Mayor Holslag participated in the discussion, vote and approval of an environmental permit for working on a home in the possession of the mayor himself, as can be read in the public permit document, » says Team Tienen. « That is a manifest violation of the deontological rules that every politician should respect and that is explicitly prohibited under Articles 27 and 50 of the Local Governance Decree. »

« The regulations regarding conflicts of interest leaves little room for interpretation about this: members of the college may not participate in the discussion or decision -making about files in which they have a direct personal interest. If there is doubt, abstinence is required, » Team Tienen continues. « We note that these basic principles have not been respected in this case. »

Lowest

« Team Tienen shows itself from its lowest side and had thoroughly read the report of the ship’s college, » responds Mayor Holslag. « During the discussion of this point and the mood I also physically left the room. So, as everyone can read in the official report, I was not present during the vote. The aldermen can also confirm that. For the rest, I did not get involved with the renovations and delivered all the pieces as everyone should do. Portiva asked me a few additional documents. »

The general director of the city Tienen also confirms that the procedure has expired correctly.
