Matura days once and US: Exhibition « Exam of Maturity » in Zrenjanin – Culture
In a small salon of the National Museum of Zrenjanin, on Wednesday, April 20, 2025. year, an exhibition « exam of maturity – graduates of Vojvodina high schools from mid-19th century to the 60’s 20th century.
The exhibition monitors the development of Vojvodina gymnasiums and marking the examination of maturity, known as a small or large matura, from the second half of the 19th century to the 1960s.
Visitors have the opportunity to be through the reconstruction of the classroom, student booklets, milling tablea, clothes, teaching aids and music records, gain insight into educational and social values of the former time.
A special segment of the exhibition is dedicated to the Matura boards, which as « mute speakers » testify more than centuries about generations of students and their values.
The oldest matura tabla that is displayed dating from the school 1889/90. year, and belongs to the graduates of the Serbian Orthodox Great Gymnasium in Novi Sad, today known as the Gymnasium « Jovan Jovanović Zmaj ».
Through carefully selected items and documents, the author reminded the importance of high school education and pointed out that true values, although often forgotten, never disappear.
The setting is signed by the historians of Charna Milinković, Museum Adviser Museum of Vojvodina, and Petition Museum, while Kostoslav Vladislav Ignjatov was in charge of organizing in Zrenjanin.
The exhibition « Maturity » will be open to visitors by the end of May 2025. years.
