Matkahuolto’s mystery trips provide a trip to an unknown

Matkahuolto For the first time this summer, organizing mystery trips. During these journeys, passengers will only know the destination when the driver distributes the envelopes they have closed.
The passenger can influence the destination by choosing a village, city, beach or forest as their own preferences. More detailed information about the item will not be provided.
The trips will be held on the first day of July and there are three different cities: Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Oulu.
A day-long return trip costs ten euros.
Traveling has gained popularity among the summer people and hundreds of tickets have been sold. Some of the trips are already sold out.
Matkahuolto Director of Travel Services Petri Lindqvist is surprised by the popularity.
« We went to test this when we recognized that domestic tourism is a trend. »
The purpose of the rapture is to present domestic destinations and encourage more ecological local tourism.
Lindqvist admits that the experience has been sought for an adventure reaction atmosphere. Unknown destination and hiding the name of the destination in the envelope resemble Amazing Race.
However, there are no tasks at the site. There is not really any program or guidance.
« The trips are completely self -sufficient. Passengers can google what’s on the spot, » Lindqvist says.
Journey When booking, the bus ticket only reads the departure and return time. In total, the journey takes six to nine hours. Lindqvist asserts that most of the time booked is spent on site, not sitting on the bus.
« We did not choose traditional summer towns as destinations, but we were looking for hidden pearls in Finland. »
The Matkahuolto bulletin says that mystery trips are suitable for all adventurous. Lindqvist also welcomes all kinds of passengers.
Is the trip really fit for everyone?
Lindqvist says that mystery trips are operated by long -distance furniture that are not equipped with all passengers, such as wheelchairs.
The only hint of limited accessibility can be found when booking a ticket: there is no wheelchair image next to symbols such as the toilet and charging plug.
