Turkish Armed Forces plan two major military exercises in May, while the Greek army plans naval military maneuvers in late May

Both Turkey and Greece announce major military exercises later this month

Official Ankara has announced the military exercises « Sea Wolf » and « Phoenix from Anatolia », which will mobilize almost all Turkish Air Force in the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, more than 20,000 members of the Turkish Armed Forces are expected to participate in the « Sea Wolf » exercise, which begins today and ends on May 17, with the participation of units of the Turkish land army, the Air Force, the Navy and the Coast Guard. The exercise will be attended by more than 100 units of Turkish ground forces, submarines, aircraft, helicopters and drones operating on the sea and in the air, and the new autonomous combat systems recently received by the Turkish Navy will be tested. Interestingly, these exercises will lead for the first time and will command the newly formed command for Amphibious Operations based in the Dardanelli.
On the other hand, the Greek military fleet will hold the « Storm » maneuvers in the Aegean Sea in late May. It is a large -scale operational naval training featuring Greek Air Force combat aircraft, as well as land army units and special operations commands. The goals of the exercise include all forms of sea and sea seaside, while the Coast Guard units will participate in some segments of the maneuver.
The last stage of the exercise implies a simulation of « Release a Greek Island » where, according to the military exercise scenario, « enemy forces and temporarily occupied it ». RB
