Marine Le Pen denounces « a political decision »

The leader of the extreme French right Marine Le Pen denounced « a political decision » after being sentenced to five years of immediate effect, before the presidential elections of 2027 in which she is favorite, AFP reports.

« I am not going to let myself be eliminated.

« There are millions of French people who believe in me, millions of French people who trust me (…), I fight for 30 years against injustice and that is why I will continue to do it and I will do it to the end, » she said at the French TF1 television channel, declaring that she does not leave « in no way » political life.

Marine Le Pen was sentenced Monday to a period of five -year ineligibility with immediate execution and a four -year sentence of detention, of which two with execution, in which it can be monitored with the help of an electronic bracelet.

The conviction, which also includes a fine of 100,000 euros, was pronounced in a file for a hijack of funds of the European Parliament, respectively the classification of some people who worked for the National Assembly.

Another eight MEPs of this party, including his Vice -President, Louis Aliot, were found guilty in the same file.

Marine Le Pen can still appeal, and until the definitive sentence is pronounced the criminal punishment will be suspended, but not the decision on political inegibility, therefore it can no longer run for the presidential elections in 2027.
