Hundreds of American marines arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, and they are even more expected during the day, at the behest of President Donald Trump, who previously distributed 4000 members of the National Guard to suppress protests despite opposition to local leaders.

Late on Monday came about half of about 700 Marines, who ordered Trump to enter Los Angeles and the others will enter the city on Tuesday, an American official of Reuters told.
Karen Bass, Mayor Los Angeles, told Kabc television that more than 100 people were arrested on Monday, but that most protesters were not violent.
During the weekend, the demonstrators threw stones and other items on police officers and vehicles, and they also lit several cars. Police replied with a shock of shells and tear gas.
Trump justified his decision to arrange an army in Los Angeles, describing protests as a violent occupation of the city, for which California governor Gavel Gavin News and Bass said she was exaggerated.
Although the Marines are solely in charge of keeping federal assets until a full contingent of 4000 members of the National Guard arrives, the use of active soldiers to answer civic unrest is extremely rare.
In a post on Tuesday morning on Truth Social social platform, Trump said Los Angeles « would now burn to the ground » had he not been distributed by the army in the city.
