Marin Le Pen will appeal to the verdict of abuse of European money
French far -right leader Marine Le Pen, her National Rally party and 11 more people will appear before an appeals court over allegations of European Parliament abuse – France Press reported citing court sources.
Of the 24 people convicted in March this year, half filed a complaint with the first -instance verdict, while others accepted the sentence.
On March 31, Le Pen was sentenced to four years in prison, two of whom with an electronic bracelet, and a five -year ban on public office. According to the court, she led the scheme by which European funds were reused for paying salaries to party associates in France, rather than assistants in the European Parliament.
The European Parliament estimated it was damaged by about four million euros between 2004 and 2016. Le Pen denies that she has committed any crime and claims the process is politically motivated.
The ban on executing a public office immediately came into force, which is currently disabling her in the 2027 presidential election.
The appeals trial is scheduled for the first half of 2026, and the verdict is expected in the summer that year.
