‘Many victims’ in Bangkok and Myanmar
THE earthquake 7.7 Richter In Myanmar has caused significant damage according to testimonies on social media, while the junta, which rules the country, declared a state of emergency in six areas and in a rare move has sought help from the international community.
A state official also told international media that there are « many victims » at a large hospital in the capital Naipidao.
Meanwhile, at least three people were killed by a partial mosque in the city of Taugnu in Bago, according to two eyewitnesses who spoke to Reuters.
« We prayed when the earthquake began (…) Three died on the spot, » one man said.
The centered earthquake close to the city of 1.2 million Mandalei residents and 10 kilometers of focal depth caused significant damage to neighboring Thailand.
Bangkok’s ruler said the city was declared a disaster zone. He announced that many tall buildings in the Thai capital have been damaged and called on citizens to be careful.
Chardcart Citipund said the number of damage buildings was not known and inspections were being carried out.
A Greek resident of Thailand spoke to the first program for « biblical disaster » and many dead. « Skyscrapers and bridges collapsed, » he said.

The strong seismic vibration collapsed under construction of a 30 -storey building in the northern part of Bangkok, causing 43 workers to be trapped. Only 7 of the 50s were able to get away from the building that collapsed like a card tower, as shown in the video below.

In other videos it seems to empty the water from the pools on the ceilings of skyscrapers while some buildings seem to be going.

Destruction in Myanmar – with the dropper the information
Posts on social media by Mandaley residents in Myanmar show collapsing buildings and debris on the streets. Reuters was unable to confirm these posts.
An eyewitness said: « We all ran out of the house when everything started trembling. I saw a five -storey building collapsing in front of my eyes. Everyone in my city has taken to the streets and no one dares to get into the buildings again. «
Another eyewitness from Mandaley, Communist Party Ning Oo, told Reuters that a Teo -Highway where many people were collapsing. « We couldn’t get in, » he explained. « The situation is very bad. »

A third resident pointed out that a mosque in the city has suffered serious damage.
Information from Myanmar comes with the dropper as the junta that has ruled the country in 2021 makes access to information particularly difficult.
The state controls almost all radio and television stations, newspapers and electronic media. The internet is also subject to restrictions.
« The state will quickly evaluate the situation and conduct rescue operations alongside the providing humanitarian aid » was the delayed Junta’s announcement at the Telegram.
