Manuel Alegre defends reform in the PS to be the party of the poor and unprotected again

The socialist historical Manuel Alegre said on Tuesday that taking into account the « serious situation » in the party, in the aftermath of the elections, it is necessary to reform the PS and again to be the « party of the poor and the unprotected. »

« I am not a wizard. I myself have difficulty understanding, but I think this phenomenon is not isolated, it is a phenomenon that is set in Europe, » said Manuel Alegre, asked about the reason for the bad result of the PS, to the entrance to a lunch in Parliament, promoted by the candidate for socialist leadership José Luís Carneiro, with the founders Alberto Arons de Carvalho, José Neves, Nuno Godinho and Rodolfo.

Manuel Alegre argued that it is necessary to “end the isolation in relation to certain social sectors of the population, get closer to the most dynamic sectors of the population, end the isolation in relation to youth and again the party of the poor and unprotected”.

The socialist honorary president argues that the party must “do what is necessary for the stability of the country.“ We cannot spend life in elections.
