Management turns and cancels the deletion of 106 posts-Liberation
This is good news that employees of Lubrizol did not wait. While the American giant had announced in February the abolition of 169 posts in Rouen and Oudalle (Seine-Maritime) before reducing this number at the start of April to 106 after a strike by employees and negotiations with the unions, there will ultimately be no deletion of positions. The company announced this Monday, May 5 at social and economic committees (CSE) its decision to « end the project to reorganize activities ”,, reports the newspaper Paris Normandy.
The job safeguard plan is therefore officially buried. Fabrice Dirineck, Director of Operations for Lubrizol Additives (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India), justifies this sudden reversal to the regional daily: “We adapt to our environment which evolves very quickly by putting an end to this procedure. We remain on overcapacity and competitiveness issues, but we have confidence in these new solutions that have emerged with our social partners. ”
According to the manager, the negotiations started with the unions made it possible to emerge tracks to safeguard the jobs. He also explains that no external pressure, of the government, for example, has influenced their decision. “It is purely internal. There have been major changes in recent times on the supply chain. We must be agile and secure the supply of our customers. So we adapt, we evolve, and we think of our employees and our customers ”, he assured.
Questioned by local radio Western trendFrançois Malandain, CFE-CGC union delegate of Lubrizol, says that« There are no effusions of joy » on the employee side after this announcement because even if « This is good news », He notes that « Confidence is broken » with management. « I think it’s back to jump better. I do not see how competitiveness can come back to the level they wanted ”, he said.
Lubrizol’s Rouen site had been the victim ofA gigantic fire on September 2019. The combustion of 1,000 tonnes of chemicals had then caused cough, respiratory discomfort, irritation, sore throat, nausea and vomiting in a part of the local population. A follow -up report from the University of Rouen had highlighted the presence of eight substances listed « Carcinogens and mutagens, endocrine disruptors ou reprotoxic, or toxic to aquatic organisms » in the environment. A presence « Reliable only to fire ».
