Man who attacked Salman Rushdie sentenced to 25 years in prison
The man who attacked writer Salman Rushdie at a literary conference in New York in August 2022 was sentenced on Friday to a 25-year impairment.
Hadi, 27, had already been considered guilty of attempted murder and assault in February, having now known the sentence.
Salman Rushdie was not in court to hear the sentence imposed on his striker, but filed a statement of ‘impact on the victim’.
It is recalled that the 77-year-old writer lost his right eye and suffered permanent damage to his hand nerves following the attack.
In Rushdie, he said that he was currently believed he was going to die, being stabbed in his head and body several times.
The striker also made a statement, even before he learned the sentence, alleging freedom of expression and nicknamed the hypocritical writer.
« Salman Rushdie wants to disrespect other people. He wants to be a Bully, he wants to do » bullying « about others. I don’t agree with that, » he said, according to international press.
In addition to the 25th anniversary of prison for the writer’s attempted murder, Hadi Killing was also sentenced to a seven -year sentence for injuring the lecture that was on stage with Salman Rushdie. The two penalties will be met simultaneously.
