Man in a hunger strike hangs on fence on the Rock Wall Citadel from Dinant

A fifties who lives in an illegally built hut in a forest near Dinant, has been hanging on a fence on the rock wall of the Citadel of the Namage municipality since Thursday. He is also in a hunger strike. The man still hung there on Saturday evening, Mayor Richard Fournaux confirmed.

The man was recently sentenced by the court of Namur to six months in prison. He must also break off his hut by July 1, but he refuses. He now wants to campaign until the king gives him an exceptional admission to leave the home.
« We tried to bring him to reason, with the police, the fire brigade, the OCMW and people who know him, » says the mayor. « An intervention group and a negotiator of the federal police also came to the scene, but he does not want to listen. He says he will continue the action until the king he has written gives an exceptional admission. »
« His home is illegal and he was convicted by the court. We cannot admit to his blackmail, » said the mayor.
