Sint-Pieters-Leeuw

The Bergensesteenweg in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw was closed for about an hour and a half on Thursday afternoon. A man had entrenched himself and refused to come out. The special assistance team Falco of the Zennevallei police zone was ultimately successful on him.

It was shortly before 16 hours that the Zennevallei police zone arrived on the Bergensesteenweg. A man had entrenched himself and soon one lane towards Halle was closed. Because the situation was not quickly improved to the special assistance team Falco van Zennevallei and the four lanes of the Steenweg were closed. Local residents were asked to stay inside and close windows and doors.

The Flemish Brabant West Fire Zone also came on site preventively, just like Nut company Fluvius. In the meantime, a drone monitored the conscious building. In the end, Falco was able to talk to the man successfully, so that he came out around 6 pm and could be overpowered.

An ambulance then brought the man to the hospital for medical checks. Why the man is exactly entrenched is unclear, probably psychological problems are at the basis. The Steenweg could eventually be opened again in both directions around 6.20 pm. (TVP)
