Man (55) arrested after a fire in Bonheiden where partner (42) died (Bonheiden)

The investigating judge in Mechelen has arrested a 55-year-old man from Bonheiden on suspicion of murder of his 42-year-old partner. The man was arrested in response to a fire with a fatal outcome in the night from Friday to Saturday.
Police Bodukap was called up in the night from Friday to Saturday for a fire in an apartment building in the Zwarte Leeuwstraat in Bonheiden. « The resident of the apartment, a man of 55, and two children were taken to the hospital for checking, » says Kristof Aerts, spokesperson for the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office. « The man was slightly hurt on his left hand, the children were not injured. After the fire extinguishing works of the fire brigade, the lifeless body of the 42-year-old resident was found. »

The lab of the federal police and the fire expert left the same night to make the first findings. A judicial investigation was started with a view to an autopsy. « The findings of the fire expert show that it is a deliberate arson. The findings of the Law Doctter revealed that the woman would have been killed with violence, and that the cause of death cannot be exclusively due to the fire, » says Aerts.
The investigating judge organized a strike together with the police, lab, public prosecutor and fire expert. The 55-year-old partner of the victim, who was present at the time of facts, was arrested on Monday morning by the police and brought before the investigating judge. « The man denies his involvement in the facts. The investigating judge decided to keep him on suspicion of murder. The council chamber decides on Friday about his further arrest, » said the public prosecutor.
The judicial investigation is continued by police Bodukap led by the investigating judge.
