A 52-year-old man was only slightly injured on Thursday morning as by Wonder after a heavy fall in an apartment building in Nieuwpoort. The man fell on the first floor in an open lift cooker to the basement but was able to climb up himself.
The incident occurred just after 8 hours in the Albert I-Laan shopping street in Nieuwpoort. A 52-year-old self-employed person from Diksmuide was working on carrying out in the apartment building, which has five floors.
The man himself was busy on the first floor. What he was doing was not clear, but the lift shaft would have been open and suddenly the man made a bad fall. He fell from the first floor in the lift cooker and ended up in the basement.
In case of consciousness
The police and medical emergency services rushed on the spot. The situation first seemed to be serious and the fire brigade was called upon to free the man from his perilous position with the RED team. But the fifties stayed with consciousness all the time and could even crawl out of the elevator cooker on his own as by Wonder.
He suffered injuries on the legs and knee and was taken to the hospital for care. The lift service was still called for the necessary repairs. (JHM)
