Majority of companies with working time recording
According to a survey, three out of four companies in Germany now record the working hours of their employees. 74 percent of the companies of 20 employees of 20 employees have time recording systems, showed a representative survey on behalf of the digital association Bitkom announced. That was 44 percentage points more than in 2022. At that time, the Federal Labor Court had decided that there was an obligation to recording work in Germany.
According to the information, companies that already record working hours rely on electronic systems on the computer (31 percent), another 18 percent used a smartphone app, 24 percent inpatient time recording systems, for example with a chip or transponder. Excel tables, handwritten hourly sheets and also the classic stamp or dot clock are also used.
Bitkom called for flexible legal regulations for working hours with a view to new work models. In many professions there is no clear dividing line between professional and private activities, such as when using social media, maintaining the personal online network or thematic research, said President Ralf Wintergerst. The association speaks for a change from a daily to a weekly maximum working time.
